Hi all,

I have a network with Windows NT4 Domain.

The machines that have Windows XP installed didn't resolve the hostnames
when I ping other ones.
If I execute the "ping -a" command to resolve the names in other operational
systems as Windows 2000, Windows 9x, Windows 2003, the resolution works.

Is there someone that can help me in this issue.

Thanks in advance,

Richard

This article only applies if you have win XP HM, you did not
specify what version of XP that your running

318266 A Windows XP HM Client Cannot Log On to a Windows NT 4.0 Domain
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=318266

If you have XP Pro, try this option

If you are running XP pro you will be able to join the domain. Follow these
steps.
1) Right Click on "My Computer"
2) Click on the Properties
3) Click on the "Network Identification" Tab
4) Click on the Properties
and fill in the Computer Name and the Domain name. The wizard will ask for
the Domain administrator's credentials

Tanks Alvin,

But this didn't resolve my problem.

The machines that I have the Windows XP (Professional) was already joined on
my domain.

Ps.: My WINS server was installed in W2K server (my domain's member server)
and I have 3 replication partner that was installed on WNT4.
