Winmgmt using all available processor resource on SBS2000

We have a problem where the whole system is excruciatingly
slow and Task Manager is showing winmgmt as taking all
available CPU resource. The CPU utilisation is permanently
maxed out at 100%.

This started when the drive containing the Excchange
mailbox data files and the pagefile.sys ran out of space.
We have moved the mailbox store onto another drive.

We have already tried the following fixes as detailed elsewhere in this
newsgroup but none of them have had any effect on the problem:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------
Try repairing the repository by performing these steps:
1-Stop the WINMGMT service (Set it to disable to stop it from starting
again)
2-Delete all files in the WBEM Repository directory (located in the
\%Windir%\System32\WBEM\Repository )
3-Restart the WINMGMT service (Set it to enable and then start it).

Also verify that the MOFs in the WMI and the WMI\Healthmonitor folder are
listed
in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WBEM\CIMOM\Autorecover MOFs
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you are using Symantec, they definitey have some issues right now. If you do
try uninstalling.
If not, saounds like something else got you in a head lock.

Try running a virus check online at Symantec. (It found some files I buried that
four other ones did not find.)
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/ gives you the most recent problem infections

Patronize me, and run one online at Symantec.

Scan your computer with Symantec online (it in the center, click on security
check, and the next window choose Virus scan)
http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_9xnt/

When it has run write down or print the names of virus found. Let it remove what
it will. After ward Go to Google and type the virus name adn you should find the
Symantec Virus removal instructions. If they have a fixtool use it, but be sure to
do everything it says in THAT order.

Here is another page they have that has a multiplicity of fixtools.
