Bought the grandaughter (aged 6) a Sony Video
IPod for Xmas. It came with WinMedia11 software to enable drag and drop when
connected to a computer.

When trying to install this software it asks to validate however her family
computer running genuine WinXPSP2 does not have an Internet connection, not
by choice but its simply not available.

I do think Microsoft is going a bit over the top by assuming that everyone
must have access to the Internet.

I've done some searches to see if there is a work around but to be quite
honest the sites I've found seem to be based on having an illegal Win OS
which does not apply in my grandaughter's case.

So please, has anybody any suggestions.

TIA

You could not have done much worse than having this Microsoft-SONY
combination. It's all part of DRM, or Digital Rights Management.

Plug the mp3 player into a USB port. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer and
see if the device has been recognized by Windows XP and assigned a drive letter.
If so, you can simply drag and drop files onto that drive.

If that doesn't work, I suggest you contact Sony's support for this device and
see if they have an alternative suggestion to using Windows Media Player 11 with
their product.

Good luck
