I am having problems connecting to my SMTP server, i.e. sending mail out.
It was working fine yesterday, and I have a laptop that is connected to the
same network which is working fine, it can send receive mail using Outlook
Express. So it seems the network seems to be ok. The only thing that has
changed from yesterday to today is that the following updates where
automatically downloaded & installed overnight. The updates where:

KB929916, 935807, 931174, 9333928,935280, 936357 & 937077

Has anybody else had problems with there mail after downloading any of these
updates?

I am a UK user & use BT as my ISP

I'm an UK BT user and all the updates installed OK.

Are you running Norton or McAfee av software?

If so uninstall it immediately. It is not compatible with Vista.
Use either of these 2 free compatible products.

Avast http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html
AVG http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-virus/us/frt/0

Turn off email scanning, it isn't needed.

I am using avast.

The updates installed ok, but since then, my SMTP server hasn't worked,
hmm?? May have to uninstalled each update one by one to see if it is
affecting the servers.

Can you ping the server? Check your account properties also to verify they
haven't changed.

What is the exact error message you get?
