Winlogon.exe

When i reboot my system, after appling Windows 2000 SP3, the machine hangs up without going to the desktop
I get these message "winlogon.exe - Application Error". It goes on to expain, The instruction at "0 x 00077bbc
referenced memory at "0 x 000000001" the memory cuold not be written. When i click on ok to terminate the program or on cancle to debug the program, it reboot the system and come to the same spot. I have gone throught the F8 process, but it brings me to the same spot. Can someone give help
