Okay... I need a little more help... I downloaded the WININET.dll from the
url you provided. Now how do I get it to unzip in the system folder? I
located the WININET.dll in the Windows\System 32 folder. How do I install
this downloaded version into the System folder and then get the system to
reboot/identify the new WININET.dll file?

Appreciate your help... I did a SEARCH of my system w/ Explorer and there
are several instances of the WININET.dll files. It appears that the one that
is currently being used in the SYSTEM 32 folder is from the SP2 upgrade. Is
it possible this file could have gotten corrupted during the download? My
memory isn't precise on this, but this was about the time I started having
the streaming video problems.

Anyway, any help you can provide will and has been greatly appreciated. I
sure would like to get this fixed.

Thanks,

Yes there are several locations where this dll file is present.
Rename/replace the dll file present under C:\WINDOWS\system32 with the
downloaded one.You can easily unzip the file;copy and paste to the above
location.

Okay... here is a good one...

Followed your instructions...

The WININET.dll keeps coming back to the same time/date stamp and size as
the one I remove. From SYSTEM32 I have renamed the WININET.dll and moved out
of the folder. I have both copied and tried unzip to the SYSTEM32 folder and
the WININET.dll does not change to the time and date stamp of the downloaded
WININET.dll and it indicates the same time and date stamp and file size as
the WININET.dll that I am trying to replace.

What are your suggestions to this point? Let me as a question... could I go
back to a store point prior to when I think this happened (probably prior to
10/20/04) and run the system at this point? Question is... if I restore back
to then do I lose data files etc created after that point, especially like my
Quicken account? OR is there some other solution. It almost sounds like a
piece of spyware or trojan of some sort but I'm not sure. I have routinely
looked for spyware and adware but who knows.

Your help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
