WinFixer2005

When I visit a particular site that has a banner advert for WinFixer, despite
having a pop-up blocker active I am inundated with many pop-ups asking me to
install this program. When I close the window another pops up. My browser
window also changes to a winFixer window. How can I prevent this from
happening? (apart from not visiting this particular site) I am using IE.

Thanks.

The folks at microsoft.com led me to this link:
http://www.spywaredb.com/remove-winfixer/. From here I clicked on the
SpySweeper link, downloaded the trial copy, and after a full scan, seemed to
be rid of the pesky little critter. My computer still runs as slow as it
always did, and I still get a few unwanted pages, but it certainly has cut
out a lot of "junk." A day without winfixer2005 is like a day without a poke
in the eye.
