I have recently had an episode with viruses and popups -- usually the
system is well protected and I don't have to deal with these things.
I've been told to try WinFixer 2005. Is this worth trying on my XP
system or not? I don't want to create more problems by installing the
wrong thing.

Thanks,
Debbi

WinFixer is not something you should install. It's a spyware/malware
app that will do more harm than good. Do a little googling on WinFixer
to learn more.

WinFixer 2005 *is* Adware/Spyware !!!

For now on, get your advice from qualified people. Whowever told you about WinFixer is
unqualified.

There are anti virus/anti spyware News Groups specifically for this type of discussion.

microsoft.public.security.virus
alt.comp.virus
alt.comp.anti-virus
alt.privacy.spyware

Please detail EXACTLY what software you are suing for anti virus/anti spyware and their
respective versions.

WinFixer sounds like something to avoid.

ps any app that claims to fix windows automatically and fix all windows
programs is generally a pile of poo.
