Winfast 7600GT Problems

HI all, Hoping someone might be able to help me solve this issue,
I've been at it all day and not got anywhere.

Got a new gfx card this morning for my desktop machine, its a Leadtek
winfast A7600GT AGP card. Running on a XP 3ghz P4 / 1 Gb Ram & ASRock
P4VM8 Motherboard.

I followed initially followed the instructions, removing the previous
drivers (from a nvidia 5200 card) then installing the new ones.
However the display adapter is constantly just the windows default. It
doesnt seem to recognise the card itself.

I've tried the following, Using drivercleaner to remove all trace of
existing drivers, (in safe mode & normal), Downloading and installing
the latest NVIdia driver Or the ones from the TweaksRUs. I've updated
the motherboard bios to the latest version. I've been into the Bios
and made sure it is looking for AGP cards and not PCI (as the previous
card was PCI).

When I try installing the Nvidia/tweaksrus drivers - the installation
fails saying it could not find a suitable driver.

Please if anyone has any ideas - please let me know, I'm not sure what
else to look at now. From whati've read it looks like a nice card,
it'll be a shame to have to send it back..

Try rt clicking MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device
Manager>Display Adaptors>rt click on the adaptor
there and choose Uninstall. Then restart and tap F8 until you get a menu
and select Safe Mode. When XP loads up try
reinstalling the Nvidia Driver. Go to nvidia's website and get one or
Leadtek's . This review mentioned drivers used.

Try the latest drivers from here:

You may even want to check out the Manual tab to see if it has anything different
from the docs included with the card.

Do you have the motherboard AGP driver loaded. Otherwise known as the
chipset drivers. Perhaps on this model VIA 4 in 1 driver

Do you have a copy of Everest Home Edition ?

This is what it returns for a 7600GT AGP, as found on a web page.
The Vendor code of 10DE is Nvidia. And 02E0 is for 7600GT.

By using Everest, what you're looking for, is whether the card
is seen on the bus or not. And whether the vendor/device code
is a valid one, like the 10DE/02E0 listed above. A driver installer,
matches the vendor and device code, to the contents of the driver INF.
It cannot install, unless there is some kind of match.

I had a sound card, where one of the bus pins was not making good
contact. The enumeration info was off by one bit, as a result, and
the sound driver would not load when the card was not making good
contact. I used Everest, to prove to myself, that sometimes the
enumeration info was not right. Then, reseating the card would
fix it, and the enumeration would be correct.

I don't expect it is something that easy, that is wrong, but
you have to start somewhere.
