Hello --

Has anyone had experience with WinDriver? Does it really write drivers?

I can't install my
3com 10/100 + 56k mini PCI combo card
in my IBM T20
and want to find out if it can somehow write the drivers for it.

Thanks for any information .

WinDriver is a C/C++ toolkit for accessing hardware without having to write
device drivers. You can write once, and it will run on all of these
platforms. No kernel or OS knowledge is required. WinDriver uses wizards to
diagnose your hardware and automatically generate your driver code. It
includes support for PLX, Altera, Cypress, QuickLogic, National
Semiconductor, STMicroelectronics, Texas Instruments, Xilinx, PLDA and AMCC
chipsets. WinDriver also provides extended support for Windows Driver Model
(WDM), Plug-and-Play and Power Management.

Thanks to you both.

The card is the OEM version, so that is the place to look.

It would help if you mentioned that you were talking about a PC Card
that provides NIC and modem functions for use in a laptop. Maybe the
IBM T20 (which is a really short model number) is a laptop but don't
expect anyone except T20 users to know that (which would severely limit
the scope of readers that could help you). When I went hunting at
www.3com.com, I happened upon their 3Com® 10/100 LAN+56K Global Modem
CardBus Type III PC Card. Your description makes this look like a PCI
card when you really meant to say it was a PC-1 card (but the
description at http://tinyurl.com/iut8 says it is a PC-3 card which is
much thicker).

So you're saying the driver at http://tinyurl.com/iut9 won't work with
yours? Or maybe yours is one of those listed at http://tinyurl.com/iuti
(which are either Type II or III cards, not Type I). If so, just go to
the product description page, click on the Support link, and use the
drivers link.
