WinDrive32.exe Window??

Doug

Hi all. Here is a different one. This is my friends
computer that was infected by the Sassar and
Backdoor.Ranky viruses. He was able to clean both off of
his computer. Now upon a restart he recieves a command
screen with this header...

C:\Windows\System32\WinDrive32.exe

in the command screen itself is the flashing cursor but
he is unable to type anything in the screen. The only
thing he can do is close the dialog screen.

Can anyone tell me what this is and why this is happening?

Thank you.

Hi

Have a look in msconfig>startup to see if that file is referenced. If it
is, uncheck it, and reboot the PC.

Hi,

Start/run regedit, look in these registry keys for a string that references
it and delete it:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared Tools\MSConfig\startupreg
