Will it boot with only one stick at a time? If one won't
boot it is defective, if either will boot alone then there
is some mismatch.
RAM is sometimes mislabeled, sometimes it is defective.

Why are you so certain that the RAM is good. Your computer worked before,
didn't it? Did you do "anything" else? If not, the RAM is the problem!

Greetings --

It's absolutely essential that any new RAM module be compatible
with both the motherboard and any other RAM module(s) in the system.
Additionally, there are sometimes jumper switches on older
motherboards that need to be reset for the new RAM configuration.
Consult your motherboard's manual.

Run "memtest86" (download from http://www.memtest86.com)
to thoroughly check out your memory. You should get
zero errors.

Make sure the characteristics of your memory modules
match: If you can boot up your system with each module
separately, download "AIDA32 - Personal" from:
http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32
and install and run it -- first with one memory module
installed, then with the other. Click on the '+' next to
"Motherboard", then on "SPD", then "Device
Description". The characteristics it lists for each of your
memory modules should be the same.

i had the same problem and it was because the motherboard required that the
ram be installed in a certain configuration (either single sided or double
sided). even though the motherboard had two empty slots i was unable to fill
them. i have since moved on to a new motherboard which doesn't have this
limitation.
