I INSTALLED WINDOWSXP HOME OVER WINDOWSME IN MY COMPAQ
PRESARIO 1900 AND NOW THE COMPUTER CAN NOT FIND THE DVD DRIVE?

through the comp away and get a new one...

did u try the newest drivers? go to the windows up-date
page and check it out, if u r lucky that'll solve ur
prob, if not post again

I had this very problem today with an HP Pavilion, only

mine would sometimes be recognized in windows, but most of
the time it wouldn't. I went to HP's site and researched
the problem. They suggested going to Microsofts site and
downloading all the driver updates for XP. I did and it
took care of the problem. It's a good idea to download the
critical updates too, but it can be time consuming,
especially if you're using dial-up.
