I have be told that if I buy a Windows XP computer it will
not be compatible withmu Windows 98m
software.

Is this true?

I use a lot of Educational programs on Windows 98, so will
they be useless if I buy a Windows XP computer?

Please advise me. I should be very grateful for your
expertise & help. (e-mail address removed)

the software suppliers, as bespoke apps can have their idiosyncrasies

You *can* find Win98 programs that will not run in XP, but they are a
small minority. Usually because they have done something like look
explicitly for a construct in the registry that exists only in Win98.

Others *may* need to be run from All Programs - Accessories -- Program
Compatibility Wizard, telling it to pretend to be Win98. But most
things just run
