Hello',
i've been using a Windows-workgroup for over a year. It consists of two
computer with Windows XP Pro US SP2 and Windows SP Home Dutch SP2. The Dutch
PC is connected to a shared printer.
For some obscure reason the Xp Home PC has decided to start leave the
workgroup for what it is, in other words, it can't be connected to nor can
the printer be used from the Pro Computer.
I've been looking for suggestions on this site, most of them propose to
change some NetBT registry settings.
Alas these weren't sufficient to solve the problem.
I've changed the workgroupname, but no solution; also changed the computer's
name, but also no solution, run the network wizard couple of time, but no
solution; Change the network-card, but this doesn't solve this weird problem.
Ping to the Home-computer gives no answer, so I disabled the Firewall, this
doesn't solve the problem; Ping from the home-computer to the Pro-cpomputer
gives answer thpough. An old Windows 98 notebook can be seen from the
Pro-computer, but not from the home-computer.
I've also checked the IP-settings on the computers, these are in the same
subnet.
I don't know a proper solution. Who else does?????
