Windows XP Won't Boot

I have had a literal melt down both with my computer and with what I am
trying NOT to loose on my hard drive. Here is the scenario: Tried to boot
like normal and I get the regular Bios start page then it moves to the
Windows XP booting page with the blue scrolling thing on the bottom. It
nevers goes past that screne.
Here is what I have tried: Did the F8 thing and tried to start on last
previous good setting no avail. Tried to start in Safe Mode no luck. I
really don't want to losse what is on my hard drive any suggestions?
