have remapped the network drive and made sure that the reconnect at logon
check box but it still disconnects when you logoff or shutdown. can anyone
please help.

Are you on a domain? You may look for login scripts that employee a "net use
X: /d" command. These could be in a group policy for either user or computer.
You can also execute startup scripts locally, but this is rare.

If you are not sure on this, you can try to map the drive with a different
letter to see if it stays.

I would also check group policy if you are in an AD domain.

The question is, does it automatically connect when starting up ??

When you see a red cross after starting up, just click on it and it should
auto-connect. That sometimes happens to me too.

Disconnecting when shutting down e.d. is always happening, windows has to
close it netwok connections.
But after a start you should see the drives again. If there is a red cross,
still just cklick on it. If you then again get an error, there something else
is wrong.

I am a network person (20 years) and I am having the same issues.
I am using Windows XP HOME SP2, Firewall is ON.
It sometimes stick's after a reboot but mostly DOES NOT.
I delete ALL Network Maps and Printers and Recreate them Every Day now for 5
days.
Is this a known bug in XP HOME SP2?

Please can anyone HELP!

Dennis
