Windows XP will not detect my CD/DVD burner, believing that it is only a
CD/DVD player. I have downloaded the latest drivers, and have even replaced
the burner with a newer model but it is still not recognised. Any help will
be gratefully received!

On the properties of the drive, do you have a recording tab and if so, is
the 'enable recording on this drive' check box ticked?

There is no recording tab (unfortunately)

Please note that i can record to the CD from my Creative MP3 player software.
But not from Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player!!

I have the same problem, so if you have found a solution please let me know.
All I have learned so far is that when I remove certain files or unsigned
drivers, the disc drive is lost all together. When the disc drive is found,
it will not acknowledge there is a burning device.
