Windows XP upgrade problem

A few months ago I installed the latest upgrades to Windows XP Home edition,
and my computer then just continually turned itself on and off. I solved the
problem by restoring to the state before the upgrade, but now I get a message
asking me to upgrade every time I turn on, and a computer with XP
Professional does this every time I turn off as well. Can I stop these
messages?

Thanks

Most likely the updates (whatever they are) aren't the problem. Hijackware
is.

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred tool to use.
It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

for expert analysis, not here.**

2. Once all hijackware is gone, install the updates again.
