Windows XP System Restore

On my computer I have had a virus, that crashed my computer, so I used the
system restore disk and ended up installing windows XP on my computer again.
Does anyone know how to erase the old Windows XP? So that the same virus does
not continue to infect my new Windows XP?

If you are referring to a manufacturer's recovery CD, those almost
invariably erase your hard disk and restore the software that was installed
when the computer left the factory. Consequently, the virus was removed
(along with everything else that you had on the computer.)
