Hi all

Okay lets begin, occasionally, about 1 in every start ups, i get an IO error
stating that my registary was unable to load. I click okay, my machine
restarts all all is okay.

I Am using a program called Advanced System Optimizer by systweak. It
contains a registary repair kit, i ran it and nothing came up.

I only started receiving this after i installed SP2 also every quite often
when i run windows media player to play movies it crashes with a ntdll.dll
error and then i reopen the movie after the crash and it plays.

My machine is more than fine to run all prgram it is a AMD 2.2 GHZ with
256mb DDR ram and 64 Md graphics and 80 Gig hard drive and i dont see it
being a performance issue. I have run all windows system utilities. Disk
clean up, scan disk defrag, none of these have been any help.

Please feel free 2 mail me with any help with these issues to
(e-mail address removed)

Many Thanks to all

Sorry, no free email support. Expect to get a lot of spam and
virus-laden emails now that you've posted an unmunged email address on
Usenet, too.

If the error is random, I'd suspect failing hardware. If the hardware is
new, this does not preclude component failure; in fact, if hardware is
going to fail it tends to do so rather quickly. Here are general
hardware troubleshooting steps:

1) Open the computer and run it open, cleaning out all dust bunnies and
observing all fans (overheating will cause system freezing). Obviously
you can't do this with a laptop, but you can hear if the fan is running
and feel if the laptop is getting too hot.

2) Test the RAM - I like Memtest86+ from www.memtest.org - let the test
run for an extended (like overnight) period of time - unless errors are
seen immediately.

3) Test the hard drive with a diagnostic utility from the mftr.

4) The power supply may be going bad or be inadequate for the devices
you have in the system - this isn't applicable to a laptop, of course.

5) Test the motherboard with something like TuffTest from
www.tufftest.com.

Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out suspected parts
with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing yourself and/or are
uncomfortable opening your computer, take the machine to a good local
computer repair shop (not a CompUSA or Best Buy type of store).

Additionally, you will find that most professionals do not use programs
like the tweaking program you mentioned. We find they do more harm than
good.

How to Troubleshoot Registry Corruption Issues
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=822705

Agreed, the email address thing was a mistake.

I am sure that it is not a harware error, there are no conflicts and it is a
new computer bought from a reputable dealer.

It was working fine for 2 months before i installed service pack 2.

And the System optimizer that i described before tests hardware aswell and
came up with no errors.

Have you looked in the Event Viewer to see if something is amiss?

Start/Run type "Eventvwr" (no quotes) and hit enter, look under applications to see if you may have relevant errors listed (try system lists also). You alsom may want to try an uninstall SP2 to see if these errors go away; something maybe incompatible with it.

There are 2 errors there

Tracelevel parameter not located in the registary. Default tracelevel used
is 32

and

Tracefilename parameter not located in the registary. default trace file used
