I have just built a new system and bought a new windows xp sp2 disk for some
reason once I enter the cd key it starts to install the network stuff and the
monitor shuts off I have to reboot and it does it all over again any
suggestions?

what I have tried
different memory
different video card
different psu
disabled all network cards and so forth
updated bios

System Specs
Intel 3.2e Prescott
Epox EP=4plaI mainboard
1 gb Ram ddr 400
80 western digtal drive
Liteon dvd burner
500 watt powersupply
Ati 9800 pro...Also tried a 2 day old 6600gt agp card

Could I have a bad disk or something?

Specific Issue - Prescott Processors and XP-SP2
Hi

As far as I can see, that web page fails to mention that
Microsoft have released an updated update.sys that will
fix this issue so you don't need a BIOS update or do other
stunts to be able to install SP2 in this case.

This is described here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/885626

and the download for the fix is available here (install it
before you install SP2):

Hi Torgeir Bakken , I'll update my reference notes regarding the Prescott
issue.
Thanks, Kaylene
