Windows XP SP2 Screensaver unlock slow to return desktop

When either the 'lock workstation' windows-L key sequence or my password
enabled Windows XP.scr screensaver is triggered, unlocking my laptop will
take almost a full minute before desktop and explorer.exe PID is returned.

I've run numerous spybot / MSAntispyware / NortonAV utilities with no luck.

I don't recall any recent software installations, hardware driver updates
that coincide with the timing of this annoying behavior.

If anyone has seen or heard of a solution for this, please post and supply
answer to my email k_foutch(removeme)@yahoo.com

Thanks in advance.

Is there even the remotest possibility that you have something running in the
background that is set to run when the computer idle? Something like a scan
or whatever?

That was it. The google desktop indexing service was activated. When I
disabled indexing, the unlock workstation worked as expected.

Thanks.

my desktop just disappeared and this has happened several times without no
apparent reason. Then it takes forever to get desktop back. Would also
like a reason so it won't happen again.

Thank you also

Control Panel > Power Options. If there are no related settings, this might
be a hardware problem (monitor, video card, cable).

Well, there is a reason according to your subject line (screensaver) which
I was scanning too fast. Control Panel > Display > Screensaver tab >
select "none". If this doesn't help, see my previous post.
