Windows Xp sp1 causes compaq presario to lock up

I was running windows xp without any service packs or
critical updates, however after running sp1 my compaq
presario 700 now locks up (freezes constantly). What is
the deal?? The only thing I have changed on my laptop is

I have exactly the same problem. I've also isolated it down to XP SP1.
I searched and have not found anything to resolve this issue. Compaq
should contact all it's Presario 700 owners and bring this issue to
light.

Can anyone offer any help here?

I updated the bios and keyboard from compaq and updated the s3 twister
vidio from vidio drivers.com and it seems to have stop locking and
freezing up for now. Running XP Sp1 and all the fixes. Lets hope it
stays that way.
