Windows XP Software CD

I have lost my Windows XP software cd that came with my HP
computer. Any suggestions on what I need to do? I have
to format my hardrive and start from scratch, without the
cd I am _____ed. Help!!!!!!!

You are up the creek without a paddle. Unless your HP machine allows you to
do a system recovery like mine does. The XP is loaded in the machine on a
recovery drive and a system recovery takes you back to the day you got the
machine with XP already installed on it or did you have another system on it
and you bought XP and installed it yourself?

You need to contact HP customer service and order another CD. The HP
CD is probably a proprietary restore CD which will format the hard
drive and re-install XP.
