Gene--
They worked very hard during the Beta period to address and test issues.
It's RTM since August 9th. A big part of the reason for the staggered
release is the request from 3rd party vendors to try to make the phone load
to support desks incremental. A lot of Beta testers worked very hard, and
brought a lot of experience with Windows to their work. Microsoft was
responsive to them.
Issues that come up now will be addressed in write-ups on their site, MSKBs
that are coming out frequently, Ezines, and groups. Microsoft has extensive
info on their sites and this will only increase. I'm in the camp with
Root--I think all things considered, it's hitting on all cylinders extremely
well. Microsoft has really made an effort to make SP2 work and succeeded.
They wanted to be taken very seriously as to security, and went after
buttoning down IE.
They provided a somewhat configurable firewall free, and no one could expect
them to compete with enterprise or higher end firewalls in that context.
The issues now, by and large that come up compatibility-wise are going to be
the responsibility of 3rd party software or hardware to a great extent to
correct

Just curious, if there are issues with the RTM release, does that mean
Microsoft would address them by the time it goes to auto-update?
