I tried to update for Windows XP Service Pack 1 Express
and it failed in the middle. Later I tried to do automatic
updating and successfully did:
Update for Windows XP Service Pack 1 (KB810243)
However I keep getting the message:

"Files that are required have been replaced by
unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability,
Windows must restore the orginal versions of these files.
Insert your Windows XP professional Service Pack 1 CD now."

However I don't have a CD. Everything was done from the
download via the web. I tried accessing the System Restore
wwizard but for some reason when I try to access it
through the help and support section under
FIX A PROBLEM>>ACCESSING SYSTEM RESTORE,
the system just stalls and does not bring up any page or
wizard. I do have System Restore turned on.
What can I do?
Thank you.

Hi,

Point it to your i386 folder. Other measures to be taken:

Put the regular CD in the drive first, exit its Autorun, then run the
SFC. It should then find the SP1 files in the Windows\ServicepackFiles
folder, and go on from there to the versions on the regular CD.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup.
In the right pane, change the value of ServicePackSourcePath.
