Windows XP service pack 1 has slowes everything

Since installing windows xp home edition service pack i
update in April this year response time for most/all
applications has slowed remarkably. Click on an icon on
desktop and wait has become unacceptable. any clues?
please help.

If it was update 811493 then you will probably have to remove it (control
panel | add/remove programs). There seems to some conflicts with certain
antivirus software . Same thing happened to me but once removed update
811493 everything worked normal again. I have attempted to download it
several times since in hopes that repairs had been made to the update but
apparently they have not. Good luck.
