Windows XP running slowly

Hi,

We are having 15 XP SP2 Compaq machines. 2 of them are running damn slow.
Either the program locally installed or the program from the network, it is
running too slow. For eg. Opening an existing word file or creating a new
file, the word application taking too much time to open. But the booting of
Windows XP machines are much faster. The machines only having Office XP,
McAfee and our application named Globus.

Anybody have any idea?? Pls help me out.

Julie;
How are these 2 machines different from the others?
How much RAM and how fast is the processor?
Double-check the link to verify you did it all.
Multiple tools are sometimes necessary where tools are used..

All the machines are PIV @ 2.8 GHz with 512 MB DDR Ram and 40 GB SATA HDD.
Specially, on these machines, which are running slowly, is not at all
connected to internet. Once I ran the processes described on the page, for a
few minutes, the PC was running perfectly, but again it started to scrawl.

Thanks for your immediate response.
