I have been having alot of Blue screens with my Windows XP of late and
decided to reformat hard drive and reinstall Windows XP from scratch.
Afte deleting the partition, formating the drive and reinstalling
Windows I was in the process of downloading the latest Windows updates
when to my surprise after the required system reboot, my computer
comes up with my old configuration, background and Apps just as they
were before I started the reformat and everything works just as if I
had not reformated and installed windows again. I did not try a system
recovery as I never set restore points especially not one just five
minuted before I deleted the HD partition. Does anyone have any ideas
as to what is going on?????

You either have installed xp on a diffrent partition,or you did not install
xp
correctly.Install xp cd,boot to xp cd,new installation,delete the partition
(xp),
create one, then xp formats & installs auto. One other note, you might have had
other hardware installed during the install (printers, scanner,or another
hd),these
must be unpluged 1st...
