Hi there!! I am not the greatest with computers, so I am hoping someone out
there can help me!! LOL
My desktop on my computer disappeared, but I can access by going to the
Start menu. I tried clicking and dragging, but it won't stay on the desktop.
Any pointers would be great!!!

Thanks!!

Your question does not make sense, could you try and explain it a bit better,
your desktop is the screen with the recycle bin on, what are you trying to
drag from the start menu ???

My desktop is completely blank, no recycle bin; no internet explorer, no my
computer, etc. I can only access through the start menu by choosing, for
example, Internet Explorer, etc.

I tried going to control panel, choosing desktop, and clicking/dragging one
of the icons(example, Internet explorer). But it wouldn't stay on the
desktop.

I hope this kind of clears it up.....Sorry!! I am not very good with
computer lingo and explaining computer issues!! LOL

Is this a discussion group, or let's rip on people who are trying to fix an
issue?? Maybe I made a mistake by posting something. I ran out of options
on trying to fix this, so I thought I would try this. My bad. As I
explained earlier, I am not the greatest with computer lingo and explaining
issues but I am sure you are, Ted.

Ok, now you have explained yourself again it makes a bit more sense, if you
have lost your desktop it seems that a system restore may be needed, system
restore allows you to restore your computer back to a date when it was last
working, system restore is available from the start menu->All
Programs->Accessories->System Tools, give that a try and see if it fixes the
desktop.

Before you go trying any drastic solutions you might want to
try the following:
Right click on your Desktop.
In the menu that pops out, move your mouse pointer over
"Arrange icons by...".
Another menu should pop out.
In this new menu, is there a check mark next to "Show desktop
icons"?
If there isn't move your mouse pointer over this line and click
on it so that it is checked.

Good luck

Thats a good idea Nepatsfan, they way I interpret this is as though the
desktop has completley disappeared, perhaps it is just an custom option that
has come unselected.

Hey Andy!!

The desktop did completely disappeared. I did the system restore, and it
worked!!!!!! Thanks again Andy for your patience and help!! I really
appreciate it!!!
