I am having multiple operating problems that I can't list (not enough space
to list them). Instead of bucking up and buying a new one, I want to fix my
current one. Can I partion my current c: drive (29 G available) using a
third pary software and load Windows on that drive?

Not sufficient information that what you actually want to do. Do you want to
reinstall a fresh copy windows by repartitioning the available space of your
C drive using a third party software? If yes, then this is not a good idea.
Can you boot into your current installed Windows in normal or safe mode? How
much capacity of your hard disk drive and how many partitions it has?

Please let us know the above information so we can guide you further.

Not sure if you intend to mirror or create a new installation. If you want
to partition a drive I recommend, pending better recommendations, Partition
magic 8.0. I use it a lot and have not had any problems with it.

Hope this helps.

You'll quickly find that 29 gig is very little space. I would instead
suggest getting a new drive and doing a clean install to it, then attaching
the old drive and copying over whatever data you need. New drives are not
expensive and are trivially easy to install. Just pay attention to the
jumper settings.

This will have the great advantage of not putting your data at risk while
you run a partition utility, and if you don't have really great backups,
that can be very important.

I've run XP VERY comfortably in 20 GB......no problems at all. Of
course, if you are the sort of person who downloads and installs masses
of (unnecessary) applications, and doesn't ever do any housekeeping,
then maybe it's not....
