I have a buggy install of windows xp pro on my pc that I wanted to fix. I
was going to format and install fresh but decided to try the repair option
first. I ran Windows XP Pro CD to repair setup though I thought this was for
the repair setup I maybe in he normal setup but anyways and it restarted my
pc so it
could go into it, it came up and started installing and such, starts at
39mins and when it gets to 34mins the screen flashes blank a few times then
shuts off like its going stand bye but it never comes out of it. I've tried
safe mode, ect but it all brings it back to the setup which continues to go
blank after 34mins.

I can't find/think of anyhting else to do but take my Hard Drive out,
install it as a slave to my other PC and from that PC delete manually that
drive and then reinstall it back to its tower and install windows fresh from
there????

Anything would help, thanks

Marco

Why on earth would you want to install the hd as a slave in another sys in
order manually delete files
The win cd contains all the tools to boot up from and create/delete
partitions and format/install

Likely suspects are RAM and display adaptor.

Well I remembered I have SLi setup so I removed all plugs, hardware, and
running only one Videocard which worked before when I first installed windows
troublefree. Now that have passed 34mins, it gets to 13 and just stops. I
let it stay on for over 10 hours and when I came back was still at 13
minuites. I looked online and found this:

"When the problem occurs, press Shift +F10 to bring up the
command prompt. Then type taskmgr.exe in the DOS window
and press Enter. The Task Manager should be started. If
not, try to press C+Shift+ESC. In the Task Manager
program, select the error messsage window in the
application list and click "End Task". In the process
list, terminate the unregmp2.exe program. Exit the DOS
prompt window and resume the installation process."

I tried that and let it sit for 3 hours. Nothing happened, restarted,
shutdown with no power, restarted again, nothing nothing nothing.

This is getting really agrivating. I was told I need to wait after
performing that taskmanger task but 3 hours is more than enough. Nothings
working. Oh and I can get setup to not runn, it'll just restart the computer
and back to setup. So booting from the cd to format or whatever isn't an
option right now.

ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS?
