Hello: I recently installed Windows XP Pro from a disc that included SP-2.
The computer has started freezing up completely, requiring me to hit the
reset button on the tower to get the system to re-boot.
It will be fine again for a short while but ultimately freeze up solid
again. I noticed the hard drive light remains on, un-blinking just a solid
on light.

I've searched and found some ways to remove sp-2, but none of them work for
me. I type in certain command lines but no joy, etc...

Any help getting sp-2 off my computer would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You

Paul.

You cannot remove SP2 if it was installed from an
integrated ( slipstreamed ) source, like you describe.

Why do you think removing SP2 will fix your problem?

Hello: I did a goggle search for problems similar to mine. ALOT of the
results of the search indicated that people found SP-2 was at the bottom of
the problem.
Problems ranging from freeze ups, to printer spool up, and alot of other
performance degrading things.
I have certainly noticed going from Windows XP Pro with no service pak's to
WinXP Pro SP-2 that my computer is much less stable...

Too bad I can't remove it.
