Hi, I'm trying to recover Windows XP login password.
I have came across a few sites that state it will take up to 48 hours for
the password recovery process.
Here's the problem... I don't have 48 hours. My older and only blood brother
suddenly passed away in a tragic accident. I'm trying to recover as many
contacts and pictures that are stored on his computer. This data is for
funeral services TOMORROW. Please help my family and I!

Go to http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ and download the boot
disk, this will enable you to reset any system password on an NT class
operating system.

For a user(s) whom had a password to open xp & cannot be present to run pc,
if one wanted to open xp w/o them, one would tap the F8 key on starting the
pc,
select safe mode, enter xp as administrator. That gets you in,one could then
open user accounts, open non-present user account, delete the password.....
How 24 hrs ever was raised is unfamiliar with a pc,this takes about 2
minutes...

This solution would only work if :-

1. The administrator password is known

or

2. If the administrator password is blank

When I turn my pc on half the time it hangs on the welcome screen. I can
cold start which does a check disc and it will complete the start up. all of
the updates have been installed. I have run adaware, spybot and a virus scan
and all are clean. Is the an update that could be causing this problem?

have gone to lots of help sites and
found lots of programs they say will help but I cannot instal anything
with limited rights, even tried to reformat the computer, no go from
dos command so put my xp disk in the drive but that would not let me
past the first page because I have no admin rights.

Buy external USB HDD Case (Enclosure)
remove HDD from the PC.
Install it into HDD Enclosure.
Connect other PC or Laptop to retrive Photo data.
You do not need password to do this.
Good luck.

Bert,
By far this link is the best. Thank You soo much for your help!
With Much Thanks, Christie

Thank you Andrew. My hubby has just passed, and I am in need of some info on
his computer. Imagine my surprise when I restarted his computer to find he
had a password to Windows. Thanks again.
