Windows XP MS-DOS Prompt Error

Quite often (now that I applied the security update)
I click on the MS-DOS Prompt, and only get a totally
blank screen. There is no prompt. What is wrong?
and How can this be fixed?

Hi, Peter.

I assume you mean Start | Accessories | Command Prompt. I use this "DOS"
window every day (both before and after SP2) and haven't had this all-blank
problem. It's hard to see how SP2 could have affected this, and I haven't
seen anybody else report anything like it.

My best guess is that you need to right-click on Command Prompt, then click
Properties and adjust the settings. You may have made the Command Prompt
screen larger than your actual monitor size, putting the prompt off-screen.
Or, you may have set the background and foreground to the same color; if
that's the situation, the prompt is there, but you can't see it.

Did you make any changes to your Display Properties? Graphics driver? Any
other recent hardware or driver changes?

I tried changing the settings and the only thing that
worked was changing from full-screen mode to
a window. Full screen mode still does not work.
Any other ideas? (I prefer full-screen mode). Thanks
