Sorry if this is a cross post.

I have a client that ordered a computer with Windows XP Media Center, he
would like to Upgrade to Windows XP Pro. Since I have never worked with XP
Media Center, I don't really know the answer. Is an upgrade possible?

Thanks in advance.

Transitioning from WinXP MCE to WinXP Pro is a _downgrade_.

WinXP Media Center Edition is a _superset_ (iow, it does
_everything_ WinXP Pro can do (except join a domain), plus contains
additional multi-media features) of WinXP Pro.

An upgrade is not possible.
You will have to do a clean install.
You will need a full version of Pro unless you have another operating system
disk to use during the install.

Why? What specific features or functionality does your client expect
to gain from doing this? Check this carefully because, as Bruce
Chambers said, about the only item that could be involved is the
ability to join a Domain.

And if the computer has only been ordered and has not yet been
delivered it should be possible to change the order to get XP Pro
instead of Media Center if it is essential that the machine be able to
join a Domain.

Good luck
