Windows XP Logo lights up slowly at Startup

Recently I noticed when I turn on my PC with Windows XP Media Center Edition
SP2 the black screen shows up with the _ at the top it stays there for a bit,
then the Windows XP with the logo thats loads right before going to the sign
in screen shows up dim very lightly lit, then slowly lightens brighter to
normalcy. It used to show the Logo screen loading completely lit up and
bright no slowly lighting up as it loads. Could this be a program I recently
installed affecting this? Or maybe a spyware? Thanks

How about video drivers?
I've installed updates to my video on my desktop XP Pro and the video
blinks about 3 times when it boots. I don't care as its only the boot
sequence, but it happened loading drivers!
Just a guess. you might try hitting f8 and changing the boot to be verbose.
Or is it before the F8?

Ahh I should explain a bit better. First the Hewlett Packard logo appears
with the F5 and F10 and all the other options at the bottom shows up. That
one shows up and its blue and that one is fine. No blinking or nothing. Then
the black screen with the white _ on top shows up, it stays there for a bit,
then the _ drops down a line and then the Windows XP Logo with the little
loading bar at the bottom shows up and thats the one that starts off dim and
lightly lit, then progresses to normal. But I haven't checked any video
drivers I should do that. Thanks

One of my computers has always worked that way -- the XP screen
starting out dim and then coming to full brightness with the blue
boxes marching across it. So I don't think it's anything wrong,
though I dont know why some computers do it and most don't.
