Windows XP locks up

When using the internet, IE 6 SP1, the system locks up
during the page load. There does not seem to be any
triggering factors with the possible excetpion that the
more intense the graphics are the sooner the system
locks. If I attempt to view a streaming video using Media
Player, the system locks almost instantly. Another
sistuation that often causes a system lock is using
Outlook 2003 to assess e-mail. All events that cause my
systm to lock up seem to be assocated with internet
access. The system locks at times when only the windows
operating system and internet access is loaded enerthing
else is disabled. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Check video drivers

I've seen many laptops with bizzare lockups...not even related to video due
to the video drivers
