Windows XP keys for Network

I am trying to retreive windows xp keys on my network,
since we reformat machines quite often. I have found 3rd
party apps that do this , but I have to run them on local
machines. I would like to run he program from my computer
but be able to access the keys or something similar to
this on my whole domain. I was wondering were you access
the keys from. I have been messing with VB scripts and can
get the product ID. I have changed the product id on the
local computer but still get the same product key, which
leads me to think it is accessing the number from
somewhere else.Does anybody know any system administration
tools that do this (I have over 70 computers I need to
run this on) or a script I could put in VB?

It does have to be installed on each workstation initially, but
then can be accessed remotely.
