windows XP is slow

Hi

I am running windowsXP home edition with nortons anti-
virus, sygate firewall,
adaware, spybot remover, CWSshredder.

The problem is that my computer seems to be running a lot
slower then when I
first installed everything. I have got a broadband
connection as well.

Is there any other nasty that could be slowing my
computer down, given that
the above software says my computer is clean.?
I cant see process that is chewing up resources
abnormally.

I have about 30 odd processes going when the computer
usually running 1 program with system idle process being
around 70-90%

I think you have answere your own question. The more programs you have
running at the same time the slower your machine get.

It's not necessary to run all these processes at once or on boot up. I don't
believe in letting any of these programs run except when I call them usually
late at night. The mos important thing is to have a good solid firewall. ZA
is very good. the latest version is having some breaking in problems but
there are locations where you can still download v. 4.5 You get it free and
it does a great job.
