Windows XP Internet Explorer Security

Guest

Hi All,

I recently upgraded to Windows XP and downloaded and installed SP2. I use
Dietel software to learn new programming languages. The software uses activeX
to display pictures and run mp3 files for its audio. IE won't allow this. IE
reports in the information bar " To help protect your security, Internet
Explorer has resticted this file from showing active content that could
access your computer. Click here for options."

Unfortunately, if it restricts active content, I can't use the software. How
can I set security in IE to allow the active content to run ?

Any help will be greatly appreciated !!

TIA

David,

Open Internet Options in the Control Panel. Click the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Security heading. Put a check next to
Allow active contentto run in files on My Computer
Click Apply, OK.

If no joy, this happens if the Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins setting
is disabled for the My Computer Zone. Follow these steps to disable the
restriction.
Click Start, Run and type regedit
Click OK.

Navigate to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

In the right-pane, double-click the value 1200 and set it's value to 0

1200 corresponds to Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins setting

Repeat the same in this registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \
Internet Settings \ Zones \ 0

Close Registry Editor and restart the system.

I have had the same problem when I want to use a scanner. I have tried all
you suggested, and when I adjust all the settings all go back to where they
were. It is like it has a mind of its own.

Please help. Any other suggestions
