I've lost my windows xp cd.
After the blaster worm, my computer got a blue screen.
I can not run my computer anymore.
I call the manufacturer of the computer and they said they
do not send CDs.
Where can I get a CD? to re-install windows xp home
edition.
The sticker of authenticity is on the computer.
Any help

Hi,

If your computer is a OEM, by which it sounds like it is, they should be
able to send you the WinXP CD to you, or if not they might have a system
restore CD that you can use to restore your computer to the way your
computer was when you first purchased the computer.

Only the manufacturer of your computer can provide
a replacement CD. Read your computer's User's Guide
and see if perhaps there is a hidden partition that contains
the Windows XP reinstallation files. The User's Guide
will instruct you how to access and utilize it. Otherwise,
you are out of luck and will need to purchase a new copy
of Windows XP since your Product Key will only work
with the computer manufacturer's CD.

May I ask the name of the manufacturer?
Have you tried booting to safe mode?
What exactly happens when you hit the power button? When do you get the blue
screen?
OEM's are required to supply a restore procedure to return the system to
it's original shipped state. Usually the restore procedure does not have an
option to keep the current data, so using the restore disks or partition,
files will destroy any current data.
Click on the link below, or copy and paste the link into the address box
if using the web based newsgroup.

Bernard, iv'e heard that if you go to college, or know
someone who does, that in the library you can get Win XP,
or any other Win application. These are new disc w/cert.
Was told they're only $20.00 to students in comp. classes.

heh

Okay - although correct - only if you go to a school/university that has
signed a contract with Microsoft to be able to do this. Usually for $5-$20
you can get Windows XP Professional. You can usually purchase all sorts of
Microsoft software *if* the school has this agreement.

However, ony the student who purchases the software can legally use it. You
get a special product key that is given to the school in question.
