I am trying to Use VMware fusion for mac.
but my macbook pro ( intel based) won't accept the windows xp cd.
but on imac it works fine. it's the laptop.
the CD is ok, ppl from mackbook pro (intel) forum had same issues, but
didn't know the solution.
I assumed Only way to get around is to make a copy of install CD. I copied
all the content from windows CD to Imac, then copied into blank dvd dsk.
but NOW the problem is THIS DISK IS NOT BOOTABLE.
How do you make bootable installation copy of windows XP.
Should I do it with my PC??
please help. thank you

Instead of copying all files from one CD to the other,
use the burning program on your PC (e.g. Nero) to
make a copy of the CD itself. The new CD will now
be bootable.

Why would a copy work, and not the original?

Some CD copying software can copy both the ISO 9660 end where the
installation stuff is, and the hidden boot area not visible on most PCs.
Drag and drop copy won't work. Must be an all or nothing copy, one touch.

Would that be the same as burning an ISO image?
