Hello all,
I have a dilemma. I keep getting the following message
when I attempt to test the modem. I have Windows XP Home
installed on a Dell Latitude CP, Pentium 266MHz machine:
"The modem failed to respond. Make sure it is properly
connected and turned on. If it is an internal modem or is
connected, verify that the interrupt for the port is
properly set."
I have tried uninstalling the modem and reinstalling it.
I have tried downloading the recent driver and installing
it. I have swapped the modem into the other pcmcia
slot. I have switched modems 3 times. I am about at my
wits end with what needs to be done. I am not sure if
changing the COM port will make a difference, but one
message board I was on said for pcmcia modems needed to
be COM 1. My current modem is on COM 3. Do you know how
to have Windows change to COM 1? Will this help?
Please help!
Thanks for any additional ideas you can
provide.
