windows xp home-update problem

trying to run windows update and it just seems to hang.
says this"Checking for the latest version of the Windows
Update software...

Depending on your connection speed, this might take a
minute. During this time, you may receive one or more
security warnings. Review each security warning to ensure
that the content is signed by Microsoft, and then click
Yes to install the software"

and then i would expect it to count up to 100% but
doesnt -just sits and waits? anyhelp please
 
This may be caused by a third-party firewall product called Zone Alarm. Try
disabling this program and opening the Windows Update site again. Be sure to
enable your firewall again when you are done.
NB - I have read that updating Zone Alarm to the newest version may also assist.
