Windows XP Home edition version 2002 compatibility issue withpreviously installed XP version

Phil

Hi,

My PC came with Windows XP installed but after a few years I had it
lock up on me. So I used my Windows XP Home Edition CD to unlock my PC
problem. Now Disk DeFragmentor and several other XP routines don't
work. If I get an error its normally along the line saying Microsoft
Management Console was created by a later version ...

How do I scan for wrong version of XP files that were installed by my
original WIndows XP (brought/rec'd ~2006)?

I assume that deleting these files and then installing my 'new'
version of XP all will be well, right?

Are System and System32 files the main problem here? Deleting all
these files would force me to re-install many applications. An ideas
how to select the bad files out?

Thanks,
Phil
