In purchasing a desktop with Windows XP Home Edition pre-
installed, I have found the following:
1. The ASR (automatic system recovery) function of the
BACKUP UTILITY fails with this message: "FIles for
recovery diskett cannot be created".
2. There appears to be a bug in the service routine,
Windows Images Acquisition. The symptoms are extremely
slow running after system startup. Started tasks load
very slow and clicking on My-Computer results in a long
search. The problem is alleviated by using the Sytem
Configuration Utility to disable the service routine.
3. Dos emulation fails to support the "read from console"
command executed under the IBM REXX PROCESSOR,
where this was supported in Windows 98.
