Something has caused my C Drive to be hidden. I'm using
Windows XP Home Edition, and none of the security and
group policy tools seem to be available to allow me to
fix this.

I don't know if this is related (but it probably is), but
when I log in, I am logged into a temporary profile
directory, since the system cannot find my profile,
although it is present on the disk.

Does anyone have an idea how I can correct this problem?

Thanks, Jack

THe partition has probably got hidden in the partition table of the
drive. What I would use is BootIT NG, from http://www.BootitNG.com ($35
shareware - 30 day full functional trial)

Download, to its own folder, extract from the zip, run the bootitng to
make a boot floppy.

Boot the floppy, Cancel Install, entering maintenance, then click on
Partition work. Highlight your C:, click Properties, and if there is an
'Unhide' button, click it and OK out and reboot
