Windows XP Hard disk storage limatations?

G

Guest

I am using windows XP Pro. I just installed a 3ware sata card and connected
8 500 gig drives for a total of 4 terabytes. I created a Raid 0 with all 8
drives for a total of 4 terabytes. When i went it to Disk Managment XP only
saw 2 terabytes "2048 GB" out of the 4096 that should appear. Is there a
limatation on how much storage XP can see and handel? If there is, is there
an software patch or update to fix this issue?

Thanks for your help,
Mikered

Windows XP supports large hard disks of up to 2 terabytes.
No patch available to go beyond this limitation unless you
wish to install Windows Server 2003 as your operating system.

Mr. Backup

You can give me the extra 2TB, now that you can no longer see it.
<smiles> Yes 2 TB is the limit for XP Pro.

If you were to install Server 2003, then you would have your disk space
back.
Thats what I did in my home as I have one box used as a DVR and it has 4+
TB.

Thank you for the responce. I just have another question, What is the hard
disk limitations when i install Windows Server 2003? or are there any. Also
does the answer apply to all the versions of Server 2003, or does each
version have it's own limitations?

Thanks again,
Mike
